HoW to make paper quilled Jewellery

Paper quilling craft kit

Paper quilled Jewellery

You’re in for a real treat here! Paper quilling is so much fun! You can use this kit to make a super bold and colourful three piece jewellery set with two earrings and a necklace.

As well as being the most fun to do, I’m really proud of the eco credentials of this box. The two main bits of kit have been sourced from two local makers, Zoe of Squeakerchimp and Julie of Creative Renaissance. Not only does that mean that the kit is plastic free right from source but I’m able to support other small businesses through Craft Box Club! Win!

You’ve got loads of spare paper so have a few practice coils before you go for the final design. No need to choose the colours that I have. Choose your own and make them unique and personal to you!

TOP TIPS

  • Coil your paper flat - This will make more sense once you’ve seen the guide. But you want to coil your paper flat so it doesn’t go all springy.

  • Keep joins on the inside - When you stick down the paper at the end of a coil, try to keep them on the inside of your design so they’re not seen. It keeps things tidier and stronger.

  • Keep your glue neat - Apply a thin, even layer of glue to keep everything looking neat.

  • Use the template - Use the wooden template to make sure your coils are all the same size. It makes a big difference to the final look.

  • Care for your creations - You’ll be surprised at how strong the paper is when it’s coiled and glued together. Still, take care of the centre of the coils, they can be fragile. And remember, it is paper so it’s best not to wear out in the rain. You’ve got enough paper to make loads of designs so try a few and wear the ones you love the most! If you really want these creations to last forever, give them a spray with an acrylic varnish (widely available)!

Video Guide

It’s quite a long guide this time! I’d take an evening for each part and craft along with the video. Note the glue tin shown in the video is now a glass jar.
